Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la la  la la la.
It is certainly the most wonderful time of year and what better way to showcase your admiration and enthusiasm for the Holidays than with your festive décor?
With the busyness this season brings, many of you just don’t have the time to get fully decorative inside, let alone the outside.
I love seeing homes lit up and decorated as I drive by my neighbourhood — it stirs up warm and pleasant emotions and gets me even more excited for Christmas.
But I also understand the demands of time, energy and manpower to get the outside of your home done to the nines à la The Griswolds.

This year, we decided to go a little more simple with our exterior and focus on brightening up our front door and entry way.
The flu has hit us hard in this home prompting us to spend more time in bed than we’d like, my husband’s work hours have extended to accommodate special work projects and I’m just busier than ever this time of year.
I don’t have plenty of front lawn and entry way to work with as it is but being a strong believer that smaller space doesn’t equal smaller style, I wanted to ensure we come home feeling happy and festive and our guests feel the same way as they roll up into our drive-ways this holiday season.

Where else do I turn to than my beloved local Home Depot to get started on my decorating.
As you know, I have used The Home Depot for decorating my Christmas Tree and Fireplace mantle last Christmas when they came out with their gorgeous new holiday collections.
Check out my post here for some inspiration with their Martha Stewart Arctic Holiday Collection.

So where do I start?
What items are on my list to add some outdoor holiday cheer to my front entrance that will not require a lot of work?

Lights are a must for your home — indoor and out.  And The Home Depot has a great selection of Christmas lights, whether LED or incandescent, even shooting stars to Light Show Colour-Changing lights!
Sticking to my simple theme, I went with ECOSMART LED Commercial Grade Super Bright Faceted C9 String Lights Warm White.

Love the ECOSMART brand with their great features:
  • Save up to 80% on energy cost vs. incandescent
  • Continuous-On – The light set continues to operate even if the LED bulb is loose or burned out.
  • Connect up to 58 sets on 1 outlet
  • Certified energy efficient

Another must was a wreath and garland.
Is it just me or do front doors look a tad naked during the holidays without a wreath? They’ve got a great selection of wreaths for all styles and sizes, even plainer ones that you can add your own decorative touch too with their variety of picks, tinsel and decor pieces.

I was instantly drawn to the 17 ft Mixed Pine Garland from Home Accents Holiday.
The perfect piece to wrap around my front door!  And it requires minimal decorating effort on my part.  Just hang and go.  In this case, I also added some lights to brighten it up.

Make sure to stock up on strong hooks for hanging your decorations.

On top of this, I also got more garland to wrap around my front step staircase handles and added lights to all the garland.

And the final Pièce de résistance (well, that lit up 17 ft garland is pretty wow already). I knew I needed a pair of those gorgeous LED Silver Sparkling Deer that I’ve been eyeing and haunted with “non-buyers remorse” ever since last year. And the plus is that they’re on sale this year!
I grabbed the 42 inch LED Silver Sparkling Doe and the 48 inch LED Siver Sparkling Deer.
As stunning as they are, they are SO quick and easy to put together. I was even able to do it (and I get intimated very easily with assembly instructions).

Putting it all together created the simple yet effective and lovely, welcoming front entrance I wanted this holiday season.
Pictures do it no justice. Did I mention the deers actually sparkle?

Aren’t they beautiful? Two pieces, HUGE impact!
This little “welcoming” guy also followed me home from The Home Depot. A cute little touch to welcome guests to fill a small corner.
Picked up some fresh poinsettia’s to add a festive and colourful touch to the empty corner of my front porch.
Using a simple wreath, I dressed up with some decor pieces and ribbons from The Home Depot.
