Crisp air, yellowing, falling leaves, the official launch of pumpkin-spiced everything — I can’t help but be super thrilled that Fall is on it’s way!  While some of you may still be grasping for dear life onto the final days of Summer, I’m already planning and skimming through Fall-themed everything at my local decor shops.  Yes, you can say I’m a little obsessed.

It’s hard to bid goodbye to Summer but there’s so much beauty in store for the Autumn months you don’t want to miss out on and a lot of it takes place outdoors!  Here are a few of our favourite things to do in the Fall to help encourage you to make the best out of this beautiful season (just pop on those lovely layers!).

Fall Hikes & Nature Walks:

I cannot think of a better time to embrace all of Nature’s splendour than Fall.  From the fresh air, to the colourful changing leaves, taking a brisk walk with the family (or alone) is the perfect weekly staple during this time of year.  I would say it’s totally Insta-worthy too!  With the change of weather also comes a change in wardrobe.  Switching from sandals to shoes and boots can be uncomfortable as our feet get used to different footwear. To help ease any discomfort, I highly recommend Dr. Scholl’s Comfort & Energy Massaging Gel Insoles, especially on longer walks to make sure I can comfortably keep moving without having to turn back early. These insoles are great for foot and leg fatigue, with gel waves that massage the most sensitive areas of my foot.

Get More Active!

It’s the time of year for us parents when extra-curricular activities and sports ramp up.  Bike-rides and outdoor sports and activities are a great way to keep the family active.  What’s great is that it isn’t too hot anymore which makes it refreshing.  If sports isn’t up your ally, fun Fall family activities like apple and pumpkin-picking is something we love to do!  Many of the farm orchards also have lots of extra activities like corn mazes and petting zoos that the kids will really enjoy.  Fall is also infamous for having some of the best carnivals.  Check out what’s happening in your community or locally and take advantage.  It’s always a great way to build some memorable family moments.

Seasonal changes can also affect the physical health for many; my husband suffers from Rheumatoid arthritis and weather changes can cause the onset of aches and pains in his joints.  This also equals to poor sleeping at night too. To avoid these issues, I like to make sure we have ALEVE Nighttime handy so he can have a better rest and relieve any physical concerns he may have.  ALEVE Nighttime relieves muscle aches and pains for up to 12 hours, plus it has a sleep aid to help you fall asleep and stay asleep.

Seasonal Crafts

During our nature walks, we love picking up and gathering a few fun items we find to put together some unique crafts and also great for decorating our front patio and inside of the home.  A great idea is making these lovely Maple Leaf Mason Jars!  They’re so easy to make and beautiful with a flameless tea light candle inside. Decorate your fronts steps, backyard patio or in a centrepiece of your dining table.

There are so many ways to get your creative DIY juices flowing using Fall nature items — do you have a favourite Fall craft you like to make with the kids?

Road Tripping

The vision of Fall skimming by your car windows, the beautiful air caressing your skin, your favourite tunes on the airwaves, hot apple cider in hand, taking a spontaneous road trip with the family is always a great idea this time of year!  Explore what’s around you, stop off at farmers markets and antique shops, discover some hidden eateries and don’t forget to take a quick family picture near a beautiful lake or landscape.

Our family is always looking for new Fall activities to do together — what are your favourite things to do alone or with the family during the Fall season?

  1. Fall is my favorite season ! and it is definitely a great time for hiking , love the cool air and the beautiful colors ..and you can hike in the cool air and beautiful colors with a large pumpkin spice latte in hand 😛

  2. Fall is my favorite season. With the cooler weather, it’s nice to be outside. we spend lots of time hiking, biking and walking during the fall. We always make sure to get in a few visits to the corn mazes in our area too.

  3. I love fall too but unfortunately it rains a lot here in Vancouver, and since the family isn’t a big fan of the rain we like to stay in and bake. On the dry days, we love going on strolls, and honestly I love any excuse to get out of the house – even if it’s to run errands because we get to see the beautiful trees!

  4. I love Fall for the cooler weather to go on longer walks. It is such a pretty time of the year. I use the Dr.Scholl’s Gel Insoles for extra comfort in my footwear.
