DSC_2867I take a lot of pride in my home.  I feel a persons home, especially the interior and everything in it, speaks and reveals a lot about the people inside.
What are their passions?
What places in the world hold their hearts and memories?
What makes them smile?

Which is why I like to ensure that whenever anybody steps foot in my home, they feel warm, welcome and happy. This is especially true for my family.
This starts with their overall well-being.

Did you know that as Canadians, we spend close to 90% of our time indoors?
I’m actually quite surprised at that statistic! Well, I personally am a “home-body” but 90%?
Most people, however, are unaware of the effects that poor indoor air quality can have on their health.
I often have to open the windows when I can to let the air circulate well.
Especially during the winter months when you have the heater on. It can really put a toll on the air quality.
Also make sure to change your filters every 6 months (or as mentioned on your filtration system).

I cook a lot and entertain a lot in my space, which isn’t the largest to begin with, so odours stick around. Even after spraying with my old air sprays or with a home fragrance.
Every household in Canada is spending between $300 to $500 each year on so called AIR FRESHENER products that simply mask odours.

Featured here: Lampe Berger Ovalie (limited edition) in Violet.

I remember seeing and hearing of Lampe Berger many years ago when I was in Paris but didn’t think much of it afterwards because, well frankly, I thought I’d be able to find something similar back in Canada and perhaps just as effective.
Wrong. I didn’t know much of it then, but I do now and Lampe Berger has changed the game entirely when it comes to home fragrances.
It not only destroys undesirable odours and diffuse long-lasting fragrance but it also
PURIFIES THE AIR – giving you better air quality by removing air pollutant molecules.
A-MAZ-ING.  There isn’t another like it.

A Little Lampe Berger History Lesson

In 1898, Maurice Berger, a pharmaceutical dispenser, invented a system of diffusion by catalysis, for which he filed a patent. This revolutionary technology, which purifies the air in enclosed rooms, was soon to be applied for private use , giving birth to the Lampe Berger company.

The little lamp which destroys bad smells saw its apogee during the 1930s: fragrance provided the dimension of pleasure; the Lampe Berger became a collector’s item, each lamp being associated with a designer and major manufacturer such as Cristal de Baccarat, Cristalleries de Saint Louis, Emile Gallé, René Lalique, and then the top porcelain producers of the 1950s… Coco Chanel, Jean Cocteau, Colette or Picasso each had their own Lampe Berger.
With over 5 million litres of fragrances and 800,000 lamps sold every year around the world, Lampe Berger is still a huge success, over a century after it was invented.
Always a French company from the start, Lampe Berger enjoys a truly international reputation – distributed in 56 countries, present in 7,000 sales outlets around the world.

It’s easy to use!

The scent is pretty instantaneous after you blow out the flame.
It’s funny, my children get a kick out of the massive flame that erupts once lit for 2 minutes to get it going. They clap their hands and sometimes my toddler son breaks into a “Happy Birthday” song. Ha-ha!
I feel good knowing that not only am I making my home smell pretty but cleaning the air that my family breathes.
I can’t say that for my old home fragrances or scented candles, unfortunately.

I love that they offer a variety of styles, designs and materials.  I have a different theme going on in each room in my home so that helps tremendously.  Plus each person has their own unique style in their space.
I personally love The White collection of Lamps – elegant and beautiful!

Taking inspiration from nature or distant places, the collection of Home Fragrances contains more than 50 fragrances! That’s a lot!
The newest Magnificent Vetiver and Forest Mist are lovely scents. My absolute favourite is the Fresh Linen.
I just love how pure and clean it smells. It’s not overpowering on the nose for me and especially the kids.
I don’t like overly strong scents, so it’s perfect.
The Dreams of Freshness and Pure Dreams collection will be just up your alley if you’re like me and prefer the simpler, fresh scents.
If you fancy more bolder, fruity, flowery or oriental scents, they’ve got you covered! You can always add some of the So Neutral to dilute and control the intensity of your fragrance in your Lampe Berger.
Each 500 ml fragrance is $24.00 and $40 for 1L bottles. A little goes a long way.
