I remember when I was first introduced to oil-based skincare products a few years ago from a friend that just traveled back from Europe. According to her, it has been the preferred method of cleaning for many, many years. Then I remembered when my grandmother use to dab olive oil on her skin and even on her hair. There must be something to this, I thought.
Looking at her gorgeous skin, I knew I had to try it out.

I was recently introduced to Lipidol, six new oils for daily skincare from the makers of Bio-Oil.
Bio-Oil has proven their worth to me during and months after both my pregnancies in reducing and minimizing the appearance of stretch marks and scarring.

Did you know that that daily washing with hot water and soap, dry weather, indoor air systems, and age are snatching the must-needed moisture your skin needs?
The first step in caring for your skin is to help it retain moisture.

Oil is an excellent medium for skincare — the outermost layer of the skin is a protective oily layer called the lipid layer. Its purpose is to hold moisture in the skin, an important function because moisture facilitates enzyme activity, which in turn supports healthy, radiant skin.

This is why Lipidol made it a mission to bring oil into daily skincare so the skin’s natural oily layer is continually being supplemented.

My husband and I gave it a shot and before I go on, I have to tell you that my husband has very sensitive skin. My face tends to be more of combination (but leaning more towards the drier side during the colder months).

My husband has declared the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil and the After Shave Oil his favourite new skincare products. He tends to break out easily, especially evident after switching skincare products, and in this case he didn’t and he felt a nice improvement to the look and feel of his face.
There was more of a balance in comparison to before where he use to have dry skin.

As for me, I noticed I did break out a little more in my chin area after using, but that’s only because that is the most sensitive part of my face. But after continual use of the Cleansing Face Oil, avoiding moisturizing my chin area, my face truly felt smoother and less dry.

We both agree that the Cleansing Face Oil is a big winner in our books and also appreciated that it is lightly fragranced with Rosemaryand Niaouli essential oils for a calming and relaxing wash and not overbearing to our senses.

Before bed, I also use the Overnight Face Oil every other day and truly have been impressed with the glow I have on my cheeks and forehead in the morning.

Lipidol products are fast absorbing (which I love!), non comedogenic and suitable for sensitive skin (which was proven with my husbands skin).

Comparing to much higher priced facial skincare products we’ve used in the past, I would definitely be buying Lipidol Products a lot more. Both my wallet and face can agree this is a wise choice!

The harsh cooler months is on its way and I highly recommend incorporating Lipidol’s oil-based skincare line to your skincare regimen.

The Lipidol skincare range features a face cleansing oil, overnight face oil, cleansing body oil, after-shower oil, after-shave oil and also a sunscreen oil (coming soon). Each product retails for $8.97 and is available exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.ca.

  2. I have dry skin so oils are a must for me. I especially like oil cleansers, hair oils and facial oils. The simple packaging on these is really nice too!

  3. I’m always hesitant to try new cleansers and oils because my skin is pretty sensitive. But will definitely look into this. Thanks for the review
