It’s a known fact that most of us fall off the wagon when it comes to our well-intentioned NY resolutions after the ball drops at midnight, and it continues well into the new year as the weeks pass.  It’s okay.  Don’t feel bad.  I say this after just having indulged in the most scrumptious oreo cookies and cream cupcake while putting together my healthy overnight oats for breakfast tomorrow.  It’s about balance, people.  Balance.

Okay, so that wasn’t the greatest example but truth be told, I do have the best intentions of getting into better shape this year (and I know I have said this year after year – but this time I mean it!).  That includes better eating choices, getting more active (okay fine I won’t include shopping and chasing my 3 year old around to get him into his bedtime bath as forms of cardio although every step does count…), quiet meditation and more prayer and quality ME time.  On top of all this, achieving a healthy work-life balance is on the very top of my list for a RENEWED me.  This is probably why it’s been so hard for me to keep up with my goals going into the new year.  I’m all about routine and typically comfortable with what I’m use to.  When something new comes along and pushes me out of my comfort zone, I can get stubborn and new ambitions come half-hearted.  This is why I appreciate a little push.

Whether women want to get in shape, give up a bad habit or be more confident, Sears Canada wants to help with its brand new #HappyRenewYear initiative – offering easy, cost- effective solutions and clever hints and tips to help Canadian women achieve their healthy goals.

A new survey* released today by Fusion Retail Analytics in partnership with Sears Canada, found that 64 per cent of Canadian women unfortunately say they have to give up their resolutions within the first three months of the year, mainly due to their hectic schedules.  #HappyRenewYear is one part of Sears Canada’s commitment to helping Canadian women stay on track and renew themselves, all year-long.

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

“Sears understands that it’s getting more and more difficult for women to manage a healthy work-life balance, what with driving kids to soccer and dance practice, taking care of the house and date night, all while managing a career,” says Gail Galea, Senior Vice-President, Home & Hardlines, Sears Canada Inc. “It’s often ‘me time’ that suffers, and in recognizing this trend, we decided to offer our customers what they need to easily integrate health and wellness into their lives year-round.”

I really appreciate this initiative and I think most of us can agree that sometimes a little healthy catalyst is just what we need to get moving.
In this case, shopping for some great new items to transform an area of my basement into a home gym is the perfect incentive!

According to Sears Canada, more than 55 per cent of women surveyed prefer working out at home to spending an average $1,400 per year on a gym membership. At-home fitness equipment and accessories are easily found, purchased and delivered at Sears, often for less than the cost of an annual gym membership.

I’ve always been a long-time customer of Sears Canada because of their great price points for quality items and I love that they often have amazing sales!

IMG_0500Workout gear — from clothing to exercise equipment and accessories — are almost ALWAYS so darn pricey! But I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with the prices I came across at Sears.  All their products are well-known brands including their own and all of great quality, so you don’t have to worry about saving money and risking the caliber of the product.

Here is what I had on my shopping list and are my top MUST-HAVE Health & Wellness Products available at Sears Canada.

R E N E W you

From exercise equipment to fashion wear to kitchen appliances, you won’t have a hard time finding what you need at Sears.

I found that having a place conveniently in my home (that I always see when doing laundry or playing with the kids in their play room situated close-by) is a great motivator.
No more excuses!
I’m actually quite excited to really get my workout routine going and to add more great items as we slowly but surely build our new little home gym.  What’s great is the whole family gets involved, including my children!  My husband and I tend to rub off on each other so working out together is nice, plus we like a little friendly competition.  We also have the Wii Fit and Sports so we play this with the kids along with yoga (which they love!).  Who said working out wasn’t fun?

  1. I need more than a push to get me going I too like my routine and new stuff can get pushed out instead. I never start something I won’t finish so there hovers my conundrum. I do the activities that are more practical like walking because that is very good cardio and something I have to do with no car. I have walked around the world in miles urging my life lol. I am sure you will do much better than I.

  2. I would love a treadmill from Sears! I don’t currently own any exercise equipment. I agree that having it in your home is a great motivator. Especially when temperatures drop & I can’t be active outside.

  3. Thanks for the post. I need to get some motivation to get more exercise and I am thinking being able to do it at home would definitely work better for me.
