You know a movie or a television show is amazing when you can remember every single word resurfacing a profusion of memories. Memories that then remind you of moments throughout those years that intertwine with each show and film. Whoever said TV is bad for you must have had a really bad childhood. Just saying.

My flashbacks go back to Saturday morning cartoons during my childhood in the 80’s and the smell of mom’s pancakes to swooning over first crushes, makeup experimentation and pillow fights during sleepovers in my tween years to first boyfriends and heartbreaks followed by the most delicious desserts and belly-aching laughter with girlfriends while dancing to favourite bands in my teen years.
Each and every one of these visions always related to a TV show or movie during that time that we can relate to — there was true comfort in each and every one of them.

I remember coming home from school in my tweens and excited to catch up on episodes of Full House or Saved by the Bell. Anybody remember those? And who hasn’t watched The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air religiously? Absolutely hilarious!
Netflix now offers the first seasons of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!

I was so thrilled to see plenty of the television series and movies I grew up with on Netflix. I was able to share some of those memories while catching up on them with my own children and also with my husband.
My husband and I are from the same generation so although plenty of those moments growing up were not together, it’s absolutely crazy-awesome that we can connect and relate to one another just from those shows or films alone.
Sad reality is, I can’t really say that for the TV series and movies in this day and age. Sure, there are plenty of great ones, but really nothing compares to the shows/films I grew up with.

  1. All of those are great movies! Beverly Hills 90210 takes the cake though. Brings me back to my high school years. I feel old.

  2. Ah, going down memory lane. I remember watching Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles religiously as a kid. Good times!
