The May Long Weekend is near and if you’re still thinking about what to do in and around the city with your family, here are a few of my favourite hot spots for Victoria Day Long Weekend!

Victoria Day Fireworks at Ashbridges Bay

Victoria Day Fireworks

The only fireworks display in Toronto on Victoria Day this year will be taking place at Ashbridges Bay Park (Coxwell Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard, Toronto) at 9.45 pm, rain or shine. The best way to get there is to take the 501 streetcar, get off at Kingston and Queen and then just walk to the bay! The display is going to be a 14 minute long affair with some seriously spectacular light shows and pyrotechnics. Be forewarned: Parking and traffic is crazy! Plan accordingly.

Harbourfront Centre

Plus for Victoria Day Long Weekend, they will have The Toronto International Circus Festival!
Come experience the magic of the circus! Discover acrobats and jugglers, comedians and jesters. Transform yourself into a clown, create a few crafts and take a turn at tumbling. This weekend is all about you. So bring your sense of adventure!
Location: 235 Queens Quay Waterfront

Centreville is the ultimate summer destination for families with young children. With over 30 rides and attractions this theme park offers up a full day of family fun. Getting to Centreville is almost as exciting as the park itself. Everyone will enjoy the scenic ride on the ferry.  I have such fond memories growing up having picnics by the lake before heading to what we called “Centre Island” back then and enjoying the quaint yet exciting amusement park. Great for all ages!  Learn more about Centreville here.

  1. Thanks for the suggestions! We haven’t checked out the Aquarium yet, but that looks like fun. What will you be up to?

  2. Needed some tips aside from the popular choices and totally forgot about the Lion King Musical and Harbourfront!
    Thanks!
